The ZoomAir AP11 Wireless Hardware Access Point can be used to connect a ZoomAir wireless network to an existing wired Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network), extend the range of an existing ZoomAir wireless network, or set up a standalone wireless network. The primary use of the ZoomAir AP11 Hardware Access Point is to connect a wireless network to a wired LAN (Local Area Network). Use of an Access Point allows members of both the wired and wireless networks to share devices such as printers and services like Internet access. Adding multiple Access Points to the wired LAN can expand the ZoomAir network almost indefinitely with full roaming capability.
The ZoomAir AP11 Hardware Access Point adds flexibility to a wired network, too. It facilitates temporary and add-on users and network moves. It also adds roaming connectivity to conference rooms, hospitals, campuses, warehouses, multi-unit dwellings, manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and similar venues.
The ZoomAir is also ideal for standalone wireless LAN use. A small office or home can be networked quickly and easily without the expense and inconvenience of running wires. Multiple PCs can share an Internet connection or other network resources such as a printer without interference from one another. With the ZoomAir AP11 Hardware Access Point as a hub, users can communicate from anywhere within range, indoors and out. Both Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) technology and the Wireless Hardware Access Point itself aid data security on a ZoomAir AP11. DSSS is extremely resistant to corruption, interference, jamming, and unauthorized detection. The ZoomAir AP11 adds additional levels of security by network user identification and 64 or 128-bit selectable Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption. Setup of the ZoomAir AP11 Wireless Hardware Access Point is made easy with the included Installation Guide, Reference Guide and installation software. Maintenance and management of the ZoomAir AP11-equipped wireless LAN is easy, too. The ZoomAir AP11 is shipped with WebManage software, an innovative, easy-to-use remote management tool that helps configure the AP11 troubleshoot network problems using a Web browser from any computer connected to the network.
