I backed up all of my old home movies on cheap DVDs and also on Gold Archival DVDs at the same time 4 years ago. I recorded them both from the same source at the same time. I also stored them both in the same place. In other words, they were recorded and stored in the exact same way. After 2 years, the cheap DVDs began to show deterioration in the picture and sound quality. But the Gold Archival DVDs are still perfect, with absolutely no picture or sound problems. I will never buy any DVD discs other than Gold Archival discs again.
