The Perle P1730 is an advanced, high-performance, multi-protocol router that provides a total solution for mixing Ethernet LAN and WAN connections and the benefit of optional Virtual Private Network (VPN) in one integrated platform. A single, flexible base unit allows users to change the configuration of the P1730 as their network needs evolve. Modular LAN and WAN interfaces allow the P1730 to support dual high-speed LAN and/or WAN connections in the following combinations. With Frame Relay capability over leased lines at speeds up to 2.048 Mbps, the P1730 offers users an extremely flexible router solution with many configuration options. Supporting up to 128 DLCI's over dual high-speed links, the P1730 can be deployed as a central-site router for corporate Frame Relay networks supporting other Perle Routers or LinkStream 2000 branch office router. With automatic switchover ISDN backup, the P1730 provides a back-up connection for Frame Relay or leased line circuits to ensure continuous service in the event of communications line failures. The Perle P1730 provides the tools to allow users to implement a security plan to prevent unauthorized access. These include NetSAFE firewall, PAP and CHAP. The P1730 Virtual Private Network (VPN) capability gives users the ability to securely connect branch offices over the Internet. With IPSec (IP Security), DES encryption, as well as authentication header support, the P1730 provides users with the tools they need to leverage the economies of the Internet for their branch office connectivity.
