Also known by the IEEE standard 802.3af, PoE delivers power to remote network devices, such as IP cameras, VoIP phones and wireless access points, over a standard Cat5 twisted pair network cable. PoE simplifies the placement and design of networks by allowing operators to avoid the time and expense of intalling new electrical wiring.
