This hard disk drive uses MRX (Magneto Resistive Extended) head technology, which improves first generation MR head technology by delivering a stronger signal. This permits higher density recording which can result in improved data throughput, better energy efficiency and greater reliability. IBM No-ID formatting provides additional storage efficiency and performance. Customers may have several HDDs for multiple system images or to share a ThinkPad between multiple users. For greater storage flexibility the hard drive can be used in SelectaDock III. The power management technology, implemented in this device, extends the system battery life, significantly reducing typical drive power consumption. This hard drive may be used to replace the original disk drive or as a second disk drive in the ThinkPad 770 UltraBay III (requires 2nd HDD adapter).
