HP's IP Console Switch with Virtual Media is a key component in managing the heterogeneous data center and along with the IP Viewer software allows remote access to multiple servers running various operating systems. Virtual Media capability allows a drive or ISO image to be remotely mapped to an attached server in the data center or a remote office for software installations and upgrades. An intuitive On-Screen Display (OSD) provides menus for configuration, virtual media, display, and even security and upgrades from the local console. In cascaded environments the HP IP Console Switch with Virtual Media can allow an administrator to manage up to 4096 servers across three tiers from a single console. When tiered with additional HP Server Console Switches with Virtual Media application installations and upgrades can be pushed through to any server on any of the three tiers from a single console. The HP IP Console Switch with Virtual Media is backwards compatible with all HP Cat5 based Server Console Switches and interface adapters that do not support virtual media.

Simplified KVM cable managment Simplified KVM cable management and network configuration that easily expands as your data center grows. The HP Server Console Switch uses unshielded CAT5 cabling between the servers and the switch. The cables can be purchased ready-made or field terminated to create custom lengths. CAT5 cabling provides several benefits-- the smaller, more flexible form factor facilitates routing through the rack and customizable lengths eliminate coils of cabling in the rear of the rack.
Scalable KVM solution Increased efficiency, space utilization and improved KVM cable management throughout your heterogeneous data center. The HP Server Console Switch has two models the 0×1×8 and the 0×2×16, using the optional 8-Port CAT5 KVM Expansion Module the 0×1×8 and 0×2×16 can scale up to 64 and 128 KVM ports, respectively.
