Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 Notebook Features
Full-Featured Notebook
Weighing approximately 2.95 pounds with an optical drive and a main battery or approximately 2.63 lbs with weight saver and battery, the new Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 notebook combines an ultra-compact form factor, high-performance processing power and entertainment functionality to create a mobile solution ideal for business professionals, commuters, students and technology enthusiasts.
Biometric Security
The optional biometric fingerprint sensor along with OmniPass software from Softex Inc., allows user authentication and password management for all Web sites and system log-ins. The fingerprint sensor is located below the touchpad and takes the place of the scroll button. The scroll function still works by sliding the finger over the side of the touchpad. OmniPass software enables you to manage your passwords with an easy-to-use Windows-based application. With OmniPass, a user creates a single master password or a fingerprint recognition to “replace” all other passwords. The first time a password secured Web site or application is used, the user simply enters the original password and then tells OmniPass to “remember that password”. From that point forward, any time that Web site or application is used, OmniPass will prompt the user to swipe the finger or enter the user’s master password and access to that site or application is automatically granted. With OmniPass, the user only has to swipe the finger or remember a single master password. That reduces the number of lost passwords and the hassle of managing several passwords.
Card Reader The media slot accepts Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO or Secure Digital (SD) cards for quick and easy transfer of digital photos, music or video to your notebook. These flash-based memory cards require low voltage to read data, and can store data files without requiring power. Since they use solid state architecture and have no moving parts, they are very reliable and offer high storage capacities.
Modular Bay
Not found in any other notebook of this size, the LifeBook P7230 notebook features a modular bay with many available options.
Camera
The optional built-in camera is a great way to stay in touch with business associates. The handy, versatile 0.3 megapixel camera and its easy-to-use software let you take still pictures or capture video. You need to illustrate a complicated procedure to a colleague in another state? No problem. You have a prototype you want to photograph? It's a snap. You want to practice that important speech and be able to review it? Use the video capture function to make a recording of it. Uses for the built-in camera are limited only by your imagination. The camera is located just above the display in the center.
Fujitsu Shock Sensor Utility
In the event your hard disk drive experiences an excessive vibration or shock, there is a possibility that the read-write head will come in contact with of the rotating platter, resulting in a "head crash." If this happens, data loss may occur. The Fujitsu Shock Sensor utility is a sophisticated hard disk drive protection system designed to minimize the likelihood of such an event.
Inside select Fujitsu notebooks and Tablet PCs there is an accelerometer that constantly senses for any sudden movement, including free falls, excessive vibration, or sudden impacts. Fujitsu Shock Sensor monitors movement from three axes: front-to-back, side-to-side, and up-and-down. The sensitivity can be adjusted by the user to accommodate different working environments.
If a sudden movement is detected, the read-write head is quickly retracted to a safe zone, reducing the possibility of a head crash and the potential loss of data. This technology reduces the risk of your hard drive being damaged and your data being lost forever.
USB 2.0
This technology lets you easily connect your notebook to digital peripherals. This new version is 40 times faster than its predecessor and is downward compatible to USB 1.1 devices. USB 1.1 is appropriate for devices such as keyboards and joysticks, but if you have data-intensive devices such as external hard drives or external optical drives, USB 2.0 is the preferred interface.
IEEE 1394
IEEE 1394 (4-pin type) allows you to download digital files, such as digital video and images, to the computer at up to 400 Mbits per second. Truly plug-n-play and hot swappable, IEEE 1394 is standard on all LifeBook P7230 notebook models.
Work and Play
Whether you want to work on that spreadsheet or watch a DVD movie, you can do it all with just one machine. Professionals will love it for its full functionality, extreme mobility and extended life. Consumers will enjoy the flexibility to surf the Internet, watch movies, burn CDs and much more.
Crisp 10.6" wide XGA TFT display
High resolution, wide screen viewing brings the home theater experience to you through the adoption of a 15:9 aspect ratio.
Crystal View Screen Technology
Exceptional image quality with a wide aspect glossy Crystal View display that is brighter than the standard TFT screen. This display’s super dark background provides crisp, vibrant colors for the ultimate viewing experience.
