The LifeBook E8310 Notebook is available with Intel Centrino Duo processor technology. With its two execution cores, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor is optimized for multi-threaded applications and multitasking. Users can simultaneously run multiple demanding applications such as graphics-intensive applications or serious number-crunching programs while running virus-scanning security programs in the background.                                

Fujitsu Shock Sensor Utility
In the event your hard disk drive experiences excessive vibration or shock, there is a possibility that the read-write head will come in contact with the rotating platter, resulting in a "head crash." If this happens, data loss may occur. The Fujitsu Shock Sensor utility is a sophisticated hard disk drive protection system designed to minimize the likelihood of such an event.

Inside select Fujitsu notebooks and Tablet PCs there is an accelerometer that constantly senses for any sudden movement, including free falls, excessive vibration, or sudden impacts. Fujitsu Shock Sensor monitors movement from three axes: front-to-back, side-to-side, and up-and-down. The sensitivity can be adjusted by the user to accommodate different working environments.

If a sudden movement is detected, the read-write head is quickly retracted to a safe zone, reducing the possibility of a head crash and the potential loss of data. This technology reduces the risk of your hard drive being damaged and your data being lost forever.

Flexible and Easier Management
The LifeBook E8310 notebook's modular bay devices, port replicator, and software image are shared with the widescreen LifeBook E8410 and LifeBook S7110 notebooks. This can simplify deployment and management and ultimately reduce TCO.

Biometrics
Fujitsu offers a built-in biometric fingerprint swipe sensor that eliminates the need for managing multiple passwords when accessing the network and managing email accounts, as well as other protected systems. With a simple swipe of the finger, the user can quickly and safely log on to the protected system and online accounts without having to enter passwords.

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
The embedded TPM 1.2 protects digital identification and data, and authenticates you into your network. It also allows users to securely store private keys and certificates for file and folder encryption, Web, email, digital signature and passwords.

TPM solutions can play a strong role in assuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect medical records, as well as Graham-Leech-Bliley, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other regulations that impose privacy and security requirements.

Dedicated Smart Card
The LifeBook E8310 notebook features a dedicated Smart Card slot, allowing users to store passwords and other confidential information on a small plastic card. Smart Cards are extremely convenient and are widely used in employee badges in large enterprises and in government especially the Department of Defense. They can also be used in conjunction with TPM and the biometric fingerprint sensor for multi-factor user authentication.

Security Panel
To protect your notebook from unauthorized access, the notebook features four "combination lock" buttons that can be used for pre-boot password log-in. Once set, the notebook will boot up only when the correct combination is entered.

There are 800,000 possible combinations with supervisor and user password levels allowing the IT manager to set a single supervisor password with unique user passwords for each employee for better manageability.

The buttons also allow users to easily launch applications with one easy touch. The buttons can be programmed to launch user's email, Internet browser, or other favorite applications.

BIOS and HDD Password Protection
Medium-to-large enterprises will appreciate this added layer of protection. With the notebook's password-protected BIOS, unauthorized users are prevented from changing the BIOS settings and booting the notebook.

The LifeBook E8310 notebook also features Supervisor and User HDD password protection, allowing system administrators to have a password that's secret from the users, and to be used to unlock the device if the User password is lost.
