Fujitsu's seventh-generation Giant Magneto-Resistive (GMR) head technology increases areal density, so MAS drives can achieve capacities up to 73.5 GB using fewer platters.
A super-fast 15,000-RPM rotational speed lowers average seek time to 3.3 ms, single-track seek time to 0.3 ms, and average rotational latency to 2.0 ms.
Acceleration Feed Forward, a method of cancelling out rotational vibrations and shocks, also helps improve drive performance. And to make MAS drives quieter, Fujitsu have incorporated fluid dynamic bearings (FDBs).
Ultra320 SCSI accommodates data transfer rates up to 320 MB/s, while internal data transfer rates reach a peak of 118.2 MB/s.
