Diva Server SoftSS7 entirely abstracts ISUP call control from the application. Therefore, ISVs and OEMs developing applications can use any Diva Server application programming interface (API) such as industry standard CAPI or the Diva Server software development kit (SDK) for the implementation of SS7 applications. As a consequence all existing or new applications written to any of the Diva Server APIs, including CAPI, can seamlessly work in both ISDN and SS7/ISUP Environments.
Diva Server SoftSS7 is an optional SS7 protocol stack which offers Message Transfer Part (MTP) and ISDN User Part (ISUP) functionality for sending and receiving calls over digital E1 and T1 interfaces. Within a single system at least one SS7 signaling link is configured on any channel of an E1 or T1 trunk. All other channels of the same trunk can work as bearer channels, carrying voice, fax or data traffic. In total up to eight E1/T1 trunks per system can be controlled by a single SS7 signaling link.
Signaling System #7 (SS7) is a set of telephony protocols used to set up the vast majority of the world's telephone calls. SS7 defines the procedures by which network elements in public telephone networks exchange information. In order to allow PC/Server- based applications and services such as voice mail and IVR systems or messaging gateways to connect directly to the SS7 network, telephony adapters with SS7 protocol support are required. With Diva Server SoftSS7 all of Eicon Network's digital E1/T1 Diva Server telephony adapters can be used in SS7 environments.
