At the heart of the system is Bell&Howell's Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (ACE) system. Simply put, ACE improves what you want to see, and suppresses what you don't. The result is images better than the original. VirtualReScan(VRS) is a powerful combination of hardware and software that takes the guesswork out of scanner settings. An "intelligent monitoring agent" checks image quality and rejects documents that fall below preset quality levels. In addition, VRS automatically recovers from many common problems, such as multifeeds, paper jams and out-of-paper errors. This means scanner operators can work more efficiently, which ultimately boosts productivity.
